History
The Hawthorn Glen Probus Club has been a very active club in the community since its beginnings in April 1994 within the Hawthorn, Camberwell, Glen Iris and Kooyong areas. The Club has included men and women since the very first day in 1994.
It was initially sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hawthorn and membership continued to expand until the limit of 100 was reached.
This was an era when Probus Clubs were the place to be and the retirees were 55 years plus and embraced the theme ‘Friendship, Fellowship and Fun’
Today, people from a wider range of suburbs joined our club as the popularity of our activities, events and guest speakers have become well known.
Our members are retirees from various occupations:
Teachers, librarians, nurses, doctors, scientists, vets, public servants, secretaries, clerical assistants, accountants, lawyers, solicitors, artists, business owners, to name a few.
Special celebratory events were arranged for the Club’s 20th, 30th, and 35th anniversary years with many dignitary’s and original founding club members.
Today, the club continues to engage with members and provide a range of outings and activities, including an interesting monthly guest speaker.

We offer many opportunities to connect socially, make friends and explore new interests with like-minded fellow retirees.
